Coir Carpets – Supply & Fit in West Sussex
Rough, rustic, and robust. The ultimate barrier against dirt.
Coir is made from the husk of coconuts. It is the roughest and most textured of all natural floorings, making it a brilliant "scraper" barrier against dirt. While often used for doormats, wall-to-wall Coir carpet creates a stunning rustic, cottage-style look that is incredibly hard-wearing.
Rustic Charm
Coir brings a heavy, golden texture to a room. It creates an instant farmhouse or cottage feel. It is also excellent sound insulation due to its thickness. It is rarely used in bedrooms or lounges due to its roughness under bare feet.
Where This Works Best
Entrance Halls & Porches: Nothing beats Coir for trapping mud and moisture. Period Cottages: Fits perfectly with uneven floors and beams. Stairs: Can be used on stairs for a very rustic look, although it is coarse to the touch.
Supply & Fit or Fitting-Only
We supply cut-length Coir matting and wall-to-wall Coir carpet. We can create custom-sized entrance mats or fit an entire hallway. Our fitting service ensures neat cutting around door frames—crucial with such a thick material.
⚠️ Specialist Fitting Required
Coir is thick and has a PVC or latex backing. Ideally, it should be loose laid in small areas (mat wells) or fully stuck down in larger rooms. It is difficult to cut and requires sharp blades and skill!
