Sisal Carpets – Supply & Fit in West Sussex
Tough, textured, and timeless. The natural choice for stairs and living areas.
Sisal is our most popular natural fibre carpet, loved for its incredible durability and crisp, architectural look. Sourced from the Agave plant, it is tough enough for busy stairs yet stylish enough for elegant living rooms. We supply and fit a huge range of Sisal weaves, from chunky bouclés to fine herringbones, across West Sussex.
Why Choose Sisal?
Due to its absorbent nature, sisal is prone to water staining. For spills, blot immediately—do not rub. For high-traffic family areas, we often recommend our stain-resistant synthetic options instead or a faux-sisal which is bleach cleanable. Sisal is the hardest wearing of the natural plant fibres. Its tight weave and strong fibres make it almost impossible to wear out, which is why it is the number one choice for stairs and runners. It offers a clean, modern aesthetic that works as well in a minimalist apartment as it does in a country cottage.
Where This Carpet Works Best
Stairs: Unbeatable. It grips well and doesn't show wear. Living Rooms: Adds fantastic texture without overpowering the scheme. Home Offices: Because it is flat, office chairs roll reasonably well on it (unlike deep pile carpet). Avoid Sisal in bathrooms or kitchens as it hates water.
Supply & Fit or Fitting-Only
Fitting sisal is a specialist skill—do not attempt D.I.Y! We provide a full supply and fit service, ensuring the correct adhesive and underlay are used. If you have bought your own Sisal, our fitting-only service will ensure it is installed correctly with acclimatisation periods respected to prevent future shrinkage.
⚠️ Specialist Fitting Required
Sisal is hydroscopic (absorbs moisture) and can shrink/expand. It MUST be acclimatised in the room for 24-48 hours before fitting. It requires a double-stick installation system where the underlay is stuck to the floor and the sisal stuck to the underlay to prevent shrinkage and bubbling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sisal soft?
No, it is textured and firm. If you want softness, choose wool. Sisal is about durability and style.
Can I clean it with water?
No! Water can cause watermarks and shrinkage. Use a specialist dry cleaning powder or kit.
Is it good for cats?
Cats love scratching it! But because it is so distinct, they can pull threads. If you have a scratch-happy cat, be warned!
